The residents of Shiv Nagar, a remote village in northern India have changed the village name to Snapdeal.com Nagar.
Snapdeal’s CEO Kunal Bahl found that a $5,000 investment would install 15 hand pumps that would make it so the villagers wouldn’t have to walk miles to get clean water. The result was life-changing.
The villagers were so grateful for the SnapDeal.com-branded pumps distributed throughout the city, they decided to change the name of their village, formerly known as Shiv Nagar (named after the Hindu god Shiva), to Snapdeal.com Nagar.
This is ‘kosher PR’, media attention, company town name, logos everywhere, BUT for a good cause!
Cheers Snapdeal.com
